System for indoor cooling

All SITAL containers are pre-arranged for the installation of an air conditioning and/or ventilation system. The structural passages in the container walls are sized and positioned according to the features of the equipment to be installed inside the container and the container internal layout. On request, SITAL can also engineer, supply and install these systems. In this case, SITAL can quote for:

  • Ventilation system
    • Natural ventilation
      Openings are protected by bird mesh and fixed-blade louvers. Their dimensions are calculated according to:
      • Thermal dissipation radiated by the equipment installed
      • Max. working temperature
    • Forced ventilation
    • Auxiliary fans or extraction units suitably dimensioned and soundproofed are installed; the type of unit is chosen according to:
      • ∆T to be guaranteed (difference between outdoor and indoor temperature)
      • Thermal dissipation radiated by the equipment + sun irradiation
      • Max. working temperature
  • Air conditioning system 
    • Active cooling
      SITAL can engineer, supply and install air conditioning systems on the containers, using:
      • Indoor or outdoor monoblock units
      • Split units
      • Roof top units
      • Special units
    According to the ref. specifications, systems can be complete with internal ducts for air diffusion with regulation grids, fire stop louvres, filtration system, pressure gauge, etc.
    Supplied systems can be redundant and equipped with control panel for managing the working logic.
  • Passive cooling
    SITAL can install passive cooling systems. These systems are especially thought for controlling indoor temperature in containers installed in remote places (desert or offshore platforms), where monitoring and maintenance services cannot be performed easily nor in short time, due to access difficulties.
    The best performance is guaranteed in environments with a broad temperature range  between day and night. These systems don’t need electric power because they use the natural movement of heat, going from the bottom upwards. On request, an active cooling system can be added and it can be connected to photovoltaic panels. Here, the active cooling system is installed in aid of the passive cooling system, if necessary.

Pressurization and filtration

In order to keep sand and fine dust out, the containers can be equipped with pressurization and filtration systems on air inlet. The filtration can be made with a 1, 2 or 3-stage system. The most advanced filtration system is enclosed in a cabinet and it is mounted externally, on the container roof, and it is made as follows:

  • 1st filtration stage – inertial filter with centrifugal fan for sand removal
  • 2nd filtration stage – acrylic or metallic filter
  • 3rd filtration stage – folded pockets filter
  • Soundproofing baffles
  • Fans for forced ventilation
  • Motorized louver

Fire detection and fire fighting systems

On request, SITAL containers can be fitted with fire detection and automatic fire fighting systems. The standard system is made as follows:

  • Central unit
  • Smoke, heat or flame detectors connected to the central unit (the quantity of detectors is calculated according to the volume and areas of the container to be monitored)
  • Acoustic and visual alarms
  • Fire suppression system (CO2 for rooms with no personnel access, or clean agents, such as Inergen, for rooms with personnel)

Customized systems built following Customer’s specifications are also available.

Lighting system

On request, indoor and/or outdoor lighting systems are fitted on SITAL containers; lighting systems are made following SITAL standard configuration or according to Customers’ specifications. If necessary, lighting systems can be fitted in compliance with ATEX regulations.

Mechanical installation of the Customer’s equipment inside the container and electrical interconnections

On request, SITAL supply can include the mechanical installation of Customer’s equipment. Electrical connections of the installed equipment can be provided, following the cable list and diagrams given by the Customer.
